The certificate in Polish as a foreign language is the only state document certifying knowledge of the Polish language. People who would like to document their level of proficiency in Polish take the exam.
So far, this has been most often done by foreigners studying or working in Poland, but recently many people have also wanted to certify their knowledge of the Polish language when applying for Polish citizenship.
